The Center for Macroeconomic Analysis and Short-term Forecasting (CMASF) is an independent non-profit organization founded in 2001. Main area of CMASF expertise is applied macroeconomic research and development of short-, medium- and long-term macroeconomic forecasts.

CMASF expertise allows it to:

• conduct research on the development of Russian economy, including main trends and bottlenecks, and construct structural scenarios of development;
• provide advice on economic policy for Russian government, public organisations and large companies;
• development of models and methods for applied macroeconomic research and forecasting

CMASF regularly engages in projects in the following areas:

• monitoring current Russian macroeconomic trends;
• macroeconomic research and forecasting in a short-, medium- and long-term perspective;
• analyzing trends and performing forecasts for areas of
  • public finance,
  • monetary policy,
  • banking system,
  • international trade,
  • standards of living;
• industry research;
• economic policy recommendations;
• development of macroeconomic forecasting tools and methods.

CMASF is one of leading Russian economic research think-tanks due to:

• fruitful research activity: CMASF completed over 50 research projects, also during this period 350 research reports were prepared for the government;
• operational competitiveness – The Center won over 50 tender offers from Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Industry and Trade, RAO “UES” (and descendent companies), Rosstat, Bank of Russia, USAID (Moscow Public Science Foundation), Foundation “Bureau of Economic Analysis”, regional administrations;
• original methods and models of forecasting developed at CMASF and used perform short-, medium- and long-term macroeconomic forecasting in the Ministry of Economic Development, Bank of Russia, Rosstat and various companies;
• well-developed base of statistical data on various spheres of the economy. This database includes about five thousand time series of monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical indicators since 1989-1995. The database developed by CMASF also includes some in-house designs (such as disaggregated input-output tables since 1995 and integrated social accounting matrices since 1992).

CMASF is a co-founder of Association of Russian Economic Think-tanks (since 2002).
